SortPeople: Save time hiring

I’ve built something called SortPeople.

When you hire someone, typically you have to look through a lot of resumes. SortPeople invites applicants to review each other. Then, you get a list of applicants ordered by their score. Peer reviewed, crowd sourcing of who’s the best for the job.

This should save you a lot of time when hiring.

What do you think?

Hi Steve, I checked your project’s webpage, it says:

    1.
Will people really rate other resumes?
Yes. About seventy percent of applicants are typically willing to do this.

    2.
Will applicants just rate all the other resumes badly?
People want to do the right thing most of the time. That said, resumes are not directly rated, instead, resumes are offered to be scored relative to each other.

    ————————————

    1. Where did you get that rate from?

    2. Why should applicants bother themselves with the survey?

And more interestingly – applications which like HRs are different from what people usually write in theirs resumes. Potentially good candidate can be ruined under bad relative scoring of others just because others may not bother themselves with understanding the specifics and vice versa. I here assume your project allows to rate resumes only of a similar type, say managers can rate other managers’ resumes, but not devs’. If so, non zero risk is that a group of jealous people will burry a good resume. On the other hand, if your system allows to rate any resume, then people with no idea of others people’s business will highly subjectively and inaccurately rate those people’s resumes.

    Am I missing something?

      Hi

The seventy percent figure is from running test open positions and seeing what people do.

Turns out most people are honest and use the system well. I’m not going to get in to a debate about whether it hypothetically will work, the only way to find out is to try it 🙂
